Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from CRU!
Here is your chance once again to try your hand with the legendary CRU Christmas Quiz! Fun for all the family, but be warned, in previous years people have been known to stay up into the wee small hours trying to get those last few clues!
The idea is to have fun and you are welcome to have a go. But if you are serious about winning one of the awesome prizes then cost of entry is only a £1. If you can print out a few copies and sell them to friends, family and colleagues to raise money for CRU dental that will be wonderful. You can then post back completed entries with a cheque. The address and prize inormation is on the quiz frontsheet.
Here is the pdf version for printing out Printable Christmas Quiz 2010
Alternatively, you can download the quiz as a Word document, fill in the answers and your details on your computer and email your entry back to us. You can pay by post or via the Donate Now link on the website which takes you to our “JustGiving” Page. Please choose Barbara Koffman’s page. Address and email details are on the quiz front sheet.

A Fundraising Cycle for Christian Relief Uganda
By Robin Yeoman and Dan Roberts
I recently cycled 240 miles in 4 days from Dieppe to Paris and back with a great friend of mine, Dan. We wanted to do something to support the great work that is going on in Uganda and raising this money has presented us with a huge challenge. Self-funded, mapped and organized, it has been an absolute pleasure to undertake and it proves how easy it is to get out there and raise the awareness of CRU. Mukund Patel is a personal friend of mine who will be joining the teams Dental Mission in November – the money we have raised ensures people will benefit from all those saddle sores and sweaty brows!! Please follow our blog at www.2wheelygoodguys.tumblr.com to see more photos.
Please feel free to keep sponsoring – we are on £635 as we speak!!!
Thank you to all those who are using Just Giving to send money to CRU since we launched the website.
With the very recent tough budget from the UK government, we wonder how this will affect giving to charity.

Barbara and Rhona gave a presentation to the Macclesfield Castle Rotary following the dinner they attended on Monday 15th Feb. 2010.
These Rotarian’s have been supporting CRU for over 10 years. They raised the money to help us with the Bore Hole that was put in at Maria’s Care several years ago. They also paid for goods to be flown out to Uganda and have often given us generous donations like the cheque they gave on Monday night, for which we would like to express our thanks.
We are always very grateful to all our supporters for helping us to fulfil the work we have to do in Kamuli and the surrounding areas.
Both Rhona and Barbara regularly give presentations to church, school and other groups about the work of CRU at Maria’s Care and in the surrounding district and also about the dental missions, which are Barbara’s passion. Click here to check out upcoming events or to contact the team if you would like a presentation.
Rhona is delighted to talk to church, school and other groups to tell them about the work of Maria’s Care and CRU.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Bollinbrook Primary School who presented Rhona with an amazing amount following a recent visit on behalf of CRU.
Other engagements have included a trip to the Pinewood Hotel in Handforth on Tuesday 9th Feb to speak to the Inner Wheel Club of Alderley Edge and Bollin Valley ladies who presented Rhona with a cheque. Many thanks to all who contributed for their generosity.
The same group plan to donate more to CRU following a Bridge Drive and Afternoon Tea event at Prestbury Village Lawn Club on Thursday March 18th at 1-30pm. Tickets available from Mrs Ronice Taylor Tel; 01625 820046.
Rhona gave a talk about the work done by CRU to an appreciative audience of senior citizens. These ladies thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon which finished with a lovely cuppa.
Rhona is always delighted to talk to groups, big or small, to tell them about the work of Maria’s Care and CRU. Click here to find out about the upcoming CRU events and the contact details if you would like Rhona to give a talk to your group.
A great night out was had once more at Tytherington High School in Macclesfield. This annual autumn event is a must for all quiz fans and lots of fun for those a little challenged in the quiz department. Great food, drink and atmosphere and a wonderful bonus of money raised for CRU’s ongoing work in Uganda. Around £850 was raised this time. Thanks to everyone who came to help or to participate.
Keen CRU volunteer and fundraiser, Jim Tryon organised another splendid evening of song when the Cowbridge Welsh Male Voice Choir made its third visit to St. Albans within a period of 4 years on Saturday 26th September 2009. A whopping total of £3033.20 was raised for CRU. Thank you very very much to those who organised and helped and especially to the choir themselves.
